Tibia Growth and Development in Broiler Chicks Reared under Continuous Light and Melatonin Dietary Supplementation During the First Two Weeks of Life

Abstract The first few weeks after broilers hatch are the period of most intense bone growth and development, time when they susceptible to influence various external internal factors. Research in recent decades has focused on involvement melatonin development during early life chickens. Melatonin release from pineal gland a circadian rhythm, with highest levels circulating night decreasing light phase day. Various types lighting used intensive broiler production. In this study, effects tibial structure were investigated. During two life, groups chickens kept under continuous fed same diet, experimental group receiving amount 0.03 g/kg feed. results obtained showed that addition diet had positive tibia, which was expressed significantly greater thickness diaphysis cortical diaphysis, higher breaking force values alkaline phosphatase activity. mineral density tibia did not differ between chicken.
